Prompt: After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster?  Prompt Response: I was not here during class so I cannot answer the first few parts but I will say that the creative process requires just as much energy as the information part. Also that taking breaks helps a ton. Summary: The class did a gallery of their posters, I'm not sure what else the class did today. Reflection: I missed class today but I think my poster turned out well.

Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

 Prompt Response: When creating my figurative language, I felt that the most challenging topic was the finding yourself. I felt that It was the most challenging because I was just not sure what to write down. It took me a while to figure out what to put. I'm not sure what I could do differently next time because it was mostly a memory thing. All the other topics were simpler to do. Summary: In class we started our visual poster on our figurate language. Reflection: I completed about half of my poster during class and plan to finish the rest on Thursday.

Prompt: Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

 Prompt Response: One thing I learned for sure is that I have the memory of a goldfish. On a serious note, I learned that I might have to put some more work into mastering metaphors. I believe I'm fine with making similes and understanding them. I also learned that there are a lot of challenges that I am facing and that I have to overcome. I hope to do so and overcome. summary: Today in class we wrote similes and metaphors about our personal challenges and how we've overcame them. Reflection: I'm happy with my progress on the assignment, I feel that I made a lot of progress.

Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school.  Prompt Response: I spent my time relaxing and enjoying the break. I avoided schoolwork during the break and put the schoolwork I did have until the weekend. Ultimately I think the break did help me recover because I was drained and dying for this break to arrive. Other than that, I played video games with my friends and slept. I don't think I tried anything new nor did my family do any traditions over the break. Summary: In class we read the poem "And Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou and analyzed it. Reflection: The poem was good, but I had some troubles with identifying the metaphors.

Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

 Prompt Response: If I had to describe how I show love using only three objects I have to choose my laptop, schoolwork, and pizza. First, I would choose the laptop because I enjoy spending my time playing video games and listening to music. Secondly, I chose schoolwork because I like to keep track of my grades, working to achieve my life long goals when I am older. And lastly, I chose pizza because it’s my favorite food to eat. All of these objects, my laptop, schoolwork, and pizza interpret how I show love. Summary: We wrote poems for the people we care about. Reflection: I'm glad break is here, I'm ready to relax.

Prompt: Now that you have completed the rhetorical analysis essay, reflect on your growth. Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature. Support your reflection with specific references to the writing process.

 Prompt Response: I think my essay writing skills are at a comfortable spot, although, there is always improvement that can be achieved. Although I did not have my step-by-step guide completed, my confidence did not waiver, I had a rough idea of what to write and went with it. Having the rhetorical devices written down helped me keep a steady pace when typing and having the context also helped me write my essay quicker. I think this experience has shown to me that I am capable of crafting essays and that I can become better. Summary: In class we typed our rhetorical out in writable. Reflection: I think my essay turned out pretty well despite the setback. I finished with some time to spare which I was happy about.

Prompt: Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Prompt Response: I was not here today so I did not completely finish the analysis planning guide, but I feel that identifying the rhetorical situation helped me to better understand the process more clearly. The rhetorical situation step covers the who, what, where, when, and why. This is important because it gives much needed context and with help you understand what you are looking for. I feel that this is the most crucial step in the process of making a rhetorical analysis. Summary: I was not here today but the class completed their rhetorical analysis guide. Reflection: I feel that the guide helped me a lot when coming up with the rhetorical analysis.
